The April 2024 Federal Budget included funding for Indigenous Services Canada to implement a new on-reserve income assistance benefit referred to as the Disability Income Support benefit. This Federal funding is intended to provide financial support directly to disabled persons living on reserve in Nova Scotia. The goal of this benefit is to provide comparable financial support to on-reserve persons, which is already available to qualified disabled income assistance clients living off-reserve.
